Here is his response:
"Those behind this campaign simply cannot accept that a first-generation Latino American from humble beginnings could rise to be a U.S. Senator and serve with honor and distinction,"
I dislike that people cannot take responsibility for themself.
"I was fired from my job because I am black."
"I was banned from YouTube/Twitter/etc because I am white and the woke people are against me."
"I am being charged with bribes because I am a first generation Spanish person"No, no, and no to all three examples.
It is because you are stupid, dumb, corrupt, or did something wrong. Probably all of those.
For once, I would like to see someone who had a problem stand up and say, "Yeah, this happened because of me. No one else to blame."

This is not his first indictment. The first time there was a hung jury, iirc.
Also, he's been under ethics investigations for a long time. I want to say 2008, but I may be wrong on that.

Federal agents found more than $480,000 in cash during a search of the couple's home in June 2022, "much of it stuffed into envelopes and hidden in clothing, closets, and a safe," as well as over $70,000 in a safe deposit box belonging to Nadine Menendez. They also found gold bars worth more than $100,000, according to the indictment.
Envelopes of cash were allegedly found in jackets with Menendez's name that were hanging in his closet. Prosecutors included photos of some of the cash and two of the gold bars they say were seized:
I think he is going to have trouble dodging this.

Hunter couldn’t keep up with the demand for influence peddling.

As busy as Hunter was, there's lots of things he couldn't keep up.

I love how he claims his "Cuban" roots prompted him to do this.
His parents emigrated during the Batista regime, and he was born here, in the US, in 1954, iirc.

LOL:
GAETZ: "We are devaluing American money so rapidly that in America today, you can’t even bribe Democrat Senators with cash alone! You need to bring gold bars to get the job done, just so that the bribes hold value!"

Speaker McCarthy wants Sen. Menendez to resign until, well, that means that maybe Rep. Santos should resign also. Suddenly, speaker McCarthy thinks that Sen. Menendez should have have his day in court. LOL
Link to videoQUOTE
Menendez was indicted last week on bribery charges. On Saturday, McCarthy called for the senator’s resignation, saying that the indictment was “very damaging” and that the evidence presented by prosecutors “seems pretty black and white.”But McCarthy seemed to flip-flop on Tuesday after CNN’s Manu Raju asked him a cagey question: “Do you think that George Santos, who’s been indicted on federal criminal charges, should also resign?”
The partisan divide in the House is very slim ― 221 Republicans to 212 Democrats ― and McCarthy needs every possible vote he can get.
So after Raju pointed out the hypocrisy of asking a Democrat to resign and a Republican to fight their charge in court, McCarthy decided Menendez should also be presumed innocent until found guilty.
“I think George could have his day in court, and I think Menendez could have his day in court,” he said.
Raju then reminded McCarthy of his earlier comments, saying, “Mr. Speaker, why do you think [Menendez] needs to resign, then?”
McCarthy immediately flip-flopped.
“It could be his choice of what he wants to do, yes,” he said.

Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., was hit with new charges Thursday accusing him of accepting bribes to behalf of a foreign government and acting as foreign agent, according to a superseding indictment. The new indictment, filed by a federal grand jury in Manhattan, alleges Menendez, “provided sensitive U.S. Government information and took other steps that secretly aided the Government of Egypt.”
Menendez and his wife, Nadine, last month pleaded not guilty to corruption charges alleging that he and his wife used his influence to pocket hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes.
"Provided sensitive information..."
Another word for that is "spy."
Still no call for expulsion from the Democrats in the Senate.
