In a statement Monday, the Freedom Caucus said its official position was that its members would oppose any bill unless it includes its preferred language about border security, new laws to address what it calls the “weaponization” of the Justice Department and the FBI and a shift in some of the Dedense Department’s policies — although it didn’t detail all the changes it wants.

Some House Republicans are tying funding the government to impeaching the President. (E.g., Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she won't support any funding measure until the House votes to formally begin an impeachment inquiry.)
If the government is shutdown, can impeachment work still be carried out? Would a government shutdown not also shutdown inquiries conducted by the government?

The narrative there is that because the Senate is so united at passing a new budget without drama, it makes it difficult for the House GOP to cause trouble.

As has been said, it is perception.
If there is a shutdowns and people start to see effects; passports not being processed, flights cancelled because TSA layoffs, pension checks delayed, etc.
who would be blamed? For right or wrong, it would be the Republican.
Now, people may forget this a year from now when there is an election........

And do we care one iota about any of that? Nah. As long as Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida can go on “Hannity” and flex his forehead muscles while yelling something that doesn’t mean anything, we’re right where we want to be – in government, but not governing.
