A "season" of tv shows was 26 episodes. Then, <gasp> they cut it down to 23 or 22.

Calling something a season that only contains 6 or 7 episodes, ain't a season.

I see the concept of “season” in the context of TV shows is a rather American thing. The CJK world produced lots of long-running TV series often without delineating then into “seasons.”

In the on-demand streaming era, Netflix often publish ten episodes at a time and call it a season. I have no problem with that. The “season” is just a convenient term at this point.

To me, if it's just seven or eight episodes, it's more of a mini-series.

Is there still a place for series on streaming? Say, a 25-30 minute show that drops weekly or bi-weekly, for over 20 episodes? It could be any genre... SF, comedy, anthology, etc.
