Oh, it'll happen. Figured it was inevitable. Honestly...I can get behind it. It's good to remember the day our country got over slavery. No way we'd still be rioting about it 155 years later.

I honestly don’t care. There are many floating holidays, this is just one less you get to choose. Seems to come at a good time of year however. Best to make it a Friday however for a long weekend or it’s a waste.

Have the Irish rioted? How about Native Americans.. have you seen them rioting? Both groups were enslaved. They got over it. Tell me why black people are the only group to ever be enslaved who are still pissing and moaning about it nearly 2 centuries later. What holiday to we celebrate in rememrance of the day their slavery ended?
We're not having riots because blacks used to be slaves. We're having riots because for the last 2 or 3 generations the family unit has broken down in the black community thanks to white liberals buying them with government free shit, making it more advantageous for the father to leave the home than to marry the mother.
Want to help the black community? Stop all the free shit, create jobs, help them learn how to build family values like they used to have. I can remember a time when, had a black kid gone out in the street rioting and looting, his daddy would have found him, dragged his sorry ass back home, and kicked his ass up into his ears. This has been stolen from the black community, and the conservatives have been trying to tell them this would happen ever since we set them free.

It will go the way of Kwanza soon, anyway.
But that's ok. Let's keep the victimhood attitude going by pandering to their crippled psyche.

It's been a long time since I redd anything from Ron Johnson, and I don't remember any of it. But I remember liking him a lot.

Reaction to Johnson's proposal should be interesting, yeah?

It's really cute that he thinks a government employee not working for a day would have a drastic effect on the economy.

Back when racism was OK the Italians had Columbus Day and the Irish had St. Patrick's Day holidays. It was a bone thrown to these races who were downtrodden, ridiculed, called offensive names and generally kept as low-wage blue collar workers.
These races are privileged now and don't need the bones any more.

I always thought Columbus Day was a bit too ethnic.

Do you think white people could bend over and spread their cheeks any harder?

Entire generations of white folk have been trained to believe that belittling themselves for their skin color is a demonstration of high human character, and not a single one of them thinks such demonstrations of character entail any personal sacrifice. And in fact, those responsible for propagating that messaging and educating those generations of white folk, do not sacrifice anything by it. On the contrary, they gain social status and financial status by it, to some extent.

MLK is the only American to have his own federal holiday.

Actually the federal holiday is still officially known as Washington’s Birthday.

Since Jesus Christ is always everywhere could He not be considered American?
And a lot of Veterans were/are American.

June 19th is a shitty time of year to have a holiday. All the graduations just happened as has Father’s Day and Mother’s Day. People are just gearing up for Fourth of July.
When the holiday happens mid week it’s even worse.
It’s just stupid. At least make it a Monday or Friday.
No one wants to lose a floating holiday for a tues, wed, or Thursday during that time of year. Oh and what about if it’s a sat or Sunday. Is the Friday or Monday off?
