Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
Ever had Ben’s?

Oh you lucky bastard. LD's right, you all just don't know.
(Aside to LD: Were you the... uh, only one like you in the place?)
-
No? Tourist day.

When was the last time you were down at U Street?

Of course it is. Black Broadway, man. Clubs were home to Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington... So of course it's filled with 60-year-old white guys and hipsters of all ages. Travel two blocks over towards Howard, though... They installed 1000 new CCTV Cameras around the University area due to all of the recent shootings and murders.
I've not been to H Street. That sounds like a challenge.

Where is Ben’s? I’ll be back in DC next in October
U street. Near the Howard University as well as all of the restaurants and clubs in the area. The Howard Theater is nearby.

Is that place in Texas?
No, this is the place that Bill Cosby made famous...
It was a staple in the 50's and 60's and was located smack dab in the middle of these great jazz clubs back in the day that featured the truly greats... And after the shows, you could stop by Ben's and you'd find Miles Davis getting a freaking half-smoke or Louis Armstrong. Great stuff! It became a city landmark. Cosby fell in love with the place while serving in the Navy and stationed in Maryland. He would eat there all the time. When Cosby hit it big, he started having press conferences there. I believe that's where he announced the show for NBC. The place is absolutely full of pictures of the whose who that comes there. Cosby ised to take center stage, though. A lot of bare spots on the wall...
