Christopher Hitchens

I've been watching some of his interviews on YouTube, as well as some tributes to him. They just popped up on my feed out of the blue.
I really miss him. There's a genuine honesty, a passion and a search for truth that is sadly lacking today. He can talk a bit, too.

Indeed. He was truly principled.

It would be very hard to not have held differing views than him at times.
I saw him debate once when he still wrote for the nation and was not yet famous. There were drinks afterward and a very small handful of us ended up hanging out outside for a few smokes, drinks in hand. He loved an audience, then even a small one.
His Orwell book is worth reading.

Stephen Fry hosted a tribute to him when he was very ill, and one of his friends said you could go out with him in the evening and drink so much that you woke up the next morning with a hangover that would last about a week and half, and then stagger into the living room to find he'd just written two articles.
