Had no idea this was a thing...

In the comments: "If this were true, @ChicagosMayor, every business owner would hire black women only, save 33 percent in wages, and be enormously profitable."

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

      Oprah is a Chicago girl.

She could probably move the date by a few months all by herself.

      Mrs. Obama could help too.

Imagine how much Oprah would be worth if she wasn’t a black woman…

Pay gaps exist for a reason. And it’s not because you sit or stand to pee, or how much melanin your skin has.

My hot take is that it would be insulting for me to get equal pay. There's no one way for me to do things, and my process, technical skills, collaboration skills, and background knowledge are completely different from any one of my co-workers. Paying us all the same would be to say that all of that is irrelevant. Well, fuck that. Pay me more than the people who suck. And let me work with the folks who get paid more to either learn from them or learn that my workplace is pathological so I can walk.

            Please love yourself.

The pay gap statistics don't compare different people in the same job. They are averages for people in one group, regardless of job, compared to people in another group. Competence at any given job never comes into it. The pay gap statistics remain the most disingenuous messaging the left offers. It's actually surprising how dumb it is, yet still with amazing staying power. It's been a centerpiece pop culture political statistic for many decades now. Usually just male vs female, but sure, you can do black female vs whatever too.

              Education is extremely important.

The concept of a statistical average was "discovered" as a tool that might be valuable after Calculus. Stats are powerful tools but it's not at all a natural way for us to internalize information.
