Jordan Peterson Update

And it was Nietzsche who taught us that a man's worth is determined by how much truth he could tolerate. How do you think you're measuring up?

When asked whether or not you were in need of an ass-whipping, Carl Jung famously said that "often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain."

(This is the strangest version of The Dozens I think that has ever happened. Definitely the whitest.)

I'm comparing you two today to who I was yesterday, and I have to say I feel pretty fucking good about it. Tomorrow seems likely to be even better.

Definitely the whitest.
Why?
Inquiring minds want to know.

zoologists have often noted that male humans with white skin (note "white" here is not to be taken literally, but rather only as an indication of relatively low amounts of melanin) have nerdy pseudo intellectual fun with one another, when left unsupervised. On the other hand, truly "white" male humans, otherwise known as albinos, are known to have magic powers.

I’ve only started it but two thoughts immediately come to mind:
- The bigger you are, the harder you fall
- Control is an illusion, and while it’s important to enjoy it while you have, beware of the consequences when you learn otherwise.

I feel sorry for the guy, everyone does. At the end of the video, he starts to choke up, like he did frequently in his last videos before SHTF. I suppose maybe deep thinkers like Peterson experience a particularly deep hell.
The problem with depression, the initial catalyst for Peterson, is something either known, by people that experience it. Or, unknown, by people like me. I don't know what they're talking about, I can't understand what something is like if I've never experienced it.
I'm more like, "what the F is wrong with you, just man-up, get drunk, get laid, go for a bike ride, pick one or all but quit being such a wuss."Or, "tomorrow will be a better day, you'll see."
What I do know, is if a Dr. ever suggests benzos, I won't agree to it. I wouldn't even take a chance on some drug like that, based on the Peterson story.

I like Jordan Peterson a lot, but something is strange about the Petersons. Such extreme ways of living. I'm not sure I'd trust his daughter. She's venturing too much into conspiracy theory land sometimes.

I don't really understand why you'd interview your dad about this. I do have personal experience of dealing with clinical depression, and the last thing I'd ever do is go into detail in public like this with family members.
I haven't read any of his books - I am intending to try one, but it also seems like you're setting yourself up a bit by giving this kind of advice.

See? Drunk posting is not so bad!
By the way, TLDW on the video.

Oh, I thought they were just missing their sisters.

Nice LOTR reference in one of the comments.
Now he's Jordan the white.

Considering the bullshit she had to go through, I give her a pass. But also no, I don't subscribe to her diet tips.
I know a lot of people similar to this, though, actually. Folks who have extremely weird and intense food allergies, bizarre health stuff, etc. To me the Petersons don't seem too out there. Just your garden variety out there.

Just
watchedlistened to the video during my commute. They kind of meandered around the timeline, but in general it was a major downer to listen to. I can't imagine that type of incessant pain. -

Pain is non-negotiable without some sort of superpower over one's nervous system. One can be forgiven for not wanting to go on.

I'm going to attend one of his shows this year, together with a friend.
His tour is quite impressive. Around 70 venues, many of them already fully booked.
I wonder how much he makes with a tour like that. If we assume an average ticket price of $60 and an average capacity of 2,500 and around 70 events, that would yield an income of around 10 million $. If he can keep just 1/3 of that, it would be a sizeable sum.

Let me know how the show goes. When he starts doing Exodus I'll be buying a ticket.

We'll make a trip to Slovenia for the show and combine it with a biking trip. That'll be fun - Slovenia is quite beautiful.
For some reason, his tour avoids Western (Continental) Europe like the plague.
