Root Canal yesterday
-
Sometimes the dentist industry doesn't suck.
The last few days one of my two front teeth has been achy. Each day it's become more sensitive (pressure, not temperature) and yesterday I woke up and the gums were a little swollen. So I called my dentist who had me scheduled for next week and they said they'd get me in ASAP today in case a root canal was needed. That was at 8:30am, I was at the dentist at 9:15am, they gave it a look and because their root canal schedule was booked up for the day, called around and found a partner about 20 minutes away who could take me at 10am, so I drove there and was there at 10:05am. Great dentist and assistant as they completed the procedure by 11am. Insurance covered 80% so I think total out of pocket was $200.
Anyway... I was getting breakfast ready and by noon the root canal was done and I already took my prescriptions that I picked up on the way home.
Maybe I have low expectations for medical/dental procedures and the many delays, costs, and uncertainties involved... yesterday was refreshing or maybe it's the lack of pain that's making me feel appreciative. Toothaches, back aches... there are so many times where the body can remind you of how badly it can hurt if you forget.

It's nice when systems work. Especially when there's some individual effort on the part of the people in the system. Like in this case, your dentist finding someone else to do it.
If you have any pain meds left over, PM me, I can dispose of them safely for you. You do not want them falling into the wrong hands.
