Up and until Aaron Judge took 3rd place on the single season home runs list, the top 3 were Barry Bonds (73 in 2001), Mark McGwire (70 in 1998) and Roger Maris (61 in 1961).

What single pitcher faced all three of these big hitters over his career?

If there’s only 1 then it would be someone with an extremely long career. I can only guess Nolan Ryan or Charlie Hough. The old knuckleball guy.

      Education is extremely important.

Yes, probably a knuckleballer. I thought maybe Phil Niekro might fit the timeframe.

This trivia question just popped up in Facebook

The 3 HR champs were 5 for 28 against him, with zero home runs.

So Maris played until 1969, and Bonds/McGwire started in 1986. So I'd have to GUESS it was someone like Nolan Ryan (insane career, insane stats) or Steve (?) Carlton. The other two I think could qualify are Phil Niekro (yes, a knuckleballer) or Sutton.
