I wouldn't say Fox's ratings are in "free fall", but another twitter/click bait term. They are trending downward and have been for months/years, but still average over a million viewers vs Newsmax's 250,000 viewers. Either way, the idea that "news" (aka corporate media content) cares about ratings is evidence of where journalism has gone.

Not quite true. From the days of Kipling or before, it's always been about paper sales or later, radio and tv ratings.
