I find it hard to believe this is a thing, but there you go.

I'm not familiar with unassigned seating on an airplane. Is that a thing? Without that piece of the puzzle, this story is of an asshole who got straightened out quickly by a process we can all presumably count on, with assigned seating.

      Education is extremely important.

Several of the budget airlines do not do assigned seating, at least unless you pay extra. It's first come, first served.

I won't fly on them. I really could care less about a hundred or two hundred bucks, I just want to have a pleasant travel experience.

Very strange to do that even on an open seating flight. You don't want to mess around on flights, the flight attendants and pilots have near absolute power to destroy your (flying) life.

Like most tall (or big) guys, I wouldn’t fly without choosing my seat in advance.

That happened to me one time on a domestic India flight. I boarded and this old lady was sitting in my seat. On shorter flights, I usually choose window. Anyway, she was clearly in the wrong seat. I called the attendant who spoke to her and she refused to move. It was kind of a short flight, so I just took her seat for the flight. 😠
