Columbia “fishing” shirts

Man, do I love these things. Super light material, the back has these vents that lets air flow through. Effective sunblock, cool as heck to wear, and the moisture just wicks away. Even the long sleeve is comfortable on a hot day…

Nice! Might have to grab one before our cabin trip. I wear the heck out of some cargo shorts I picked up at Walmart, they are (almost) a bathing suit material, so very lightweight, water repelling, comfortable, and I have no shame in the usefulness of cargo short pockets. I actually saw an article the other day that said cargo shorts are coming back in style, as if that really matters to me.

I have a peach with patterns (it’s a little dressier), a turquoise short sleeve, and a turquoise long sleeve. I had an orange long sleeve but it was ripped on the kayak trip 5 years back, then it became a workshirt for the back while digging out the patio…

I first learned about the Columbia fishing shirts from @LuFins-Dad. I have since standardized my wardrobe with them. Long sleeves, short sleeves, various colors … I have at least a dozen of these shirts. They are my casual casual and my business casual, my default outside-of-the-house shirts (except when sweaty exercise or business formal or tuxedo is expected).
I guess I identify with two fashion bros … @LuFins-Dad because of these Columbia shirts, and @FTP because we shop our business suits from the same store. And both of their screen names refer to being a paternal parent. :man-shrugging:

In shirts, I do too. If it doesn't have a button down collar it doesn't fly. Been that way since like 7th grade. If a t-shirt doesn't have a high snug neck, no go.
I have traded jeans, which I find too heavy anymore, for chinos.
If shorts aren't well above my knees they're out. like maybe a 6" inseam. In that respect all I wear is Columbia Brewhaha shorts.

For me it's a t-shirt, over-knee shorts or hiking pants, sandals. I won't win any Office Vanity Olympics but I don't care.

I wear these too. I’ve many + the “Silver Ridge” ones. I started by scooping from my kid’s bag of donation stuff. Perfect for painting or gardening, but especially sweaty hikes. I buy ladies ones when I can on sale, but men’s will do. They are pretty much all I wear in summer.

Sure were a lot of negative reviews, about size, recent quality of material. Seems the sizes are much larger than expected, so the advice was to buy online a size smaller than usual. Maybe I'll try one, I've never bought a shirt online. There are stores other than Costco? I didn't know that.

@Rainman I haven’t read reviews for awhile, but I do know for a while, Columbia (&other brands) were using recycled polyester (both shirts & fleece). Imo these recycled polys are not good. They don’t feel the same , wash the same, or look the same (after their first wash). Yes, I think Columbia fits big. I’ve bought these as gifts for a few guys.

Hmm, I’ve noticed the most recent long sleeve shirt needs to be lightly ironed coming out of the laundry, whereas the others do not. I wonder if it’s recycled polyester?

My wife and lovely children surprised me with several more along with several pair of shorts…
The shorts are comfortable, and man, they really dig into the fishing thing. The pockets have drainage, and one pair actually comes with an attached bottle opener and a little line cutting tool…
Man, these really are a dad look, but damn are they comfortable today (91, real feel 100)

Nice! I don't really follow fashion trends, they come and they go, I've been wearing the same style shorts and jeans for a while... normal stuff. I have a few pairs of cargo shorts that are just highly functional in the right setting. Use one pocket for your wallet, the other for your keys, cell phone in normal pocket... it just makes SENSE. (As does the bottle opener... although I'm more of a beer can guy when on a boat)

Still trying to figure that out… There is a small secured pocket to keep it in, though. So when I wash I can secure it.
