DIE officer being shown the door is a good start...

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Elemental is very well done. Sure, many laws of physics are violated (same can be said for Super Mario Bros.), but it's a very good film with very good storytelling. In terms of storytelling and production finesse, Elemental is at least as good as (and I would say much better than) Super Mario Bros. The Elemental has more emotional depth for sure.

What the Elemental did not have going in was name recognition. Elemental is original, a brand new creation. Super Mario Bros. has decades of name recognition and fandom built up over multiple generations of audience before opening day.

No, it has nothing to do with gender, on or off the screen. More to do with name recognition.

Another big factor is streaming. If you're a Disney+ subscriber, you know for sure you will get to stream Elemental if you just wait a little bit. There is no comparable expectation for streaming Super Mario Bros.

How much do you know about Disney's process, Ax?

That looked pretty busy by the end of the day - I can't believe the low turnout at the beginning was caused by wokeness, it doesn't really make sense.

                    I was only joking

Don't know what time of the day that was, but it's been over a 100 there recently.

Maybe I'm not a typical visitor, but of all the great reasons I can think of for avoiding Disney, the transgender thing really isn't on the list.

Also, a shit-ton of flights were cancelled over the holidays. Mrs. Phibes was supposed to fly to the UK on 7/3 - she didn't leave until 7/5. They cancelled on us not once but twice.

                        I was only joking

It makes more sense to believe that theme park attendance is affected by the weather than to believe that it is affected by wokeness.

Yeah, go work on reducing greenhouse gases and whatnot.

People book Disney World many months, even years ahead.

It will take a while for the woke reaction to catch up.

That wasn’t busy for the fireworks. Far from it. About an hour before the show, almost every single person in the park goes to the courtyard area and Main Street, USA to watch the fireworks, so it becomes highly concentrated and congested. This was nowhere near the congestion that I have seen on our trips.

Disney has admitted to the slowdown, themselves, and it was a part of the reason their stock was downgraded last week. The reasons can be debated (and there are likely multiple reasons) but the results can’t.

As @Copper pointed out, Disney trips are planned months and years in advance, so it’s doubtful that the heatwave is really what is affecting them. Disney expected lower volume anyway due to the anniversary ending AND the post-COVID travel rush dying down. I also bet the economy is playing a huge part. Disney’s prices have skyrocketed while people’s real income has gone down. That’s going to have an effect.

But yeah, I think the woke thing is also playing a part. Not in a Budweiser boycott taking 25% of your sales away, but in a much more subtle fashion. People are tired of being preached at and Disney has been getting a little preachy on social matters. It used to be that Disney World was a place where you could go and forget everything else going on in the world for a few days. That’s not the case anymore. Crowds are getting surlier, service workers are getting surlier… It’s all adding up…
