4th Fireworks Tonight

Smithfield usually does the fireworks on the second - tonight.
My next-door neighbor, 81-years-old former naval aviator, usually walks down the end of the street, about 5 houses away, to watch the fireworks in the distance. They are close enough to enjoy from here.
He brings his trumpet, and after the Grand Finale he goes over near the 11th tee and plays the Star Spangled Banner.
It is a nice touch, you can hear it coming out of the darkness after the show. Most of the people who hear it don't know what is going on. But he has done it for a few years now so they might start to expect it.

That's awesome.
Sometimes during the Christmas season, there would be these musicians that would play their instruments out in the canyon. Mozart or Corelli would unexpectedly drift into the house. They don't do it every year, so it's always a wonderful gift whenever they do.

That is very cool! For some reason I was thinking they were going off tonight so we completely missed them last night. We can walk down to the Pagan from our place and normally can catch the show.
