Ted Lasso and Mrs. Maizel.
I watched the first episode of Lasso on an AA flight last week and it was ok but didn’t draw me in.

Broke in the new TV with a 4k viewing of FastX. Somewhere along the line that series became a self aware parody, with cringy moments of sort of taking itself seriously. I suppose I’m getting old. I don’t think the action sequences in the older installments were so ridiculously cartoonish. Maybe they’re going for a video game aesthetic.

Based on the books by Hugh (?) Honey.
I'm about ⅔ of the way through the 1st book, and there are some significant differences.
Link to videoGetting great reviews, but I'm not as excited as some. A solid 3 stars, perhaps 3.5.

George, have you seen The Old Man? Really good spy story. Great cast, very well done.
-
VERY disappointed in the last episode of the season. Cheap trick to get you to watch S2. Grrr.
-
I'm playing catchup with The Dead Zone, the remake made for TV way back when. Coming to the end. It started out good, but is ending kinda lame -- tired writing and plotting. Sean Patrick Flanery outstanding as the villainous Greg Stillson.

I'm a sucker for musicals. Schmigadoon (on Apple TV+) is a take-off on the classic Hollywood musicals. Lots of nods to the musical hits of before, Great dancing, and just tongue-in-cheek enough.
Premise is two people, who're deeply in love, they think, find themselves in Schmigadoon. The songs sound like Oklahoma, the characters look like Carousel, Oklahoma and others.
Not everyone's cup of tea, of course, but I'm enjoying it. I'm 3 thirty-minute episodes in.
Link to videoSeason two is "Schmicago," with much of the cast returning.
Link to videoThe opening credits sound just like....
Link to videoI’ll give this a try. Last night I introduced Fin to Little Shop of Horrors…

We watched 3 or 4, but it’s a one gag show, and that gag wears thin. Very creative idea, though.

Watched ST Strange new worlds S2E1. Pretty good. Nothing particularly new except exploring Emo-Spock. Still better than Discovery.

I've been watching all the Marvel movies recently. Of all of them (how many are there, like 30+?) I had only seen the 2008 Iron Man. So I'm watching them in release order. In the last 2-3 weeks I've seen these in bold:

Iron Man 2 (2010)
Thor (2011)

Iron Man 3 (2013) <-- Currently on this on
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

This is the legacy of remote workers.

I've seen Iron Man and....
Yeah, I've seen Iron Man.
Looking forward to Hijack with Idris Elba. 6-part limited series.
-
I predict you will abandon that project at some point due to deteriorating movie quality 89th.
-
Ha it’s how I spend the 30-60 minutes of “free” time at night. If I’m really disciplined I’ll watch some while riding my stationary bike.

Season finished today.
Though I enjoyed it, the last episode was nothing like a "season finale." It had a moderately-big reveal at the end, and the whole episode was a set up for the next season. It felt like a tale half-told.
But I guess that's what television is like these days: Start with a great premise, spend 10-12 episodes expanding the premise, and then....nothing.
I'm deeper into the book, so I know where it's going, but it would have been nice to have some kind of denouement at the end of the first season.
Well done, however, with interesting characters. Yeah 3 stars.

I was watching the movie Pandorum. My space isn't conducive to movies on the computer under less than ideal filming conditions, like good daylight. The movie looked pretty good, but after three or four dun-dun-dun-dunnn type plot developments that I couldn't near I was left with no clue to what was going on, so I clicked out.
Based on what I understood, I recommend it -- especially for this crew.

Hijack? On what channel. I’d watch him eat soup. So compelling onscreen.

Apple TV+.
First 3 episodes have posted, the rest (7 I believe) every week after this.
It adopt's the "24" approach - events transpire in "real time." So, 7 hours of story plays out over 7 hours of TV. I'm going to wait for all 7 to be available and then binge away.
