It’s your thread. Put up the Florida numbers side by side with New York. I don’t understand how that would be irrelevant. Heck Florida might over take New York. It’s not necessarily a risk.

              https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/22/florida-politicians-coronavirus-surge-333611

'Government itself can't solve this problem': Florida officials alarmed as virus rages
“ Florida officials expressed new concern on Monday that the tactics used to slow the spread of the coronavirus are falling short and may not be enough to stop a resurgence of positive cases before the state hosts part of the Republican National Convention in August.

Top Republican politicians and the state official leading Florida’s response to the pandemic urged businesses and residents — particularly young people — to stay vigilant about social distancing, leaving the fight in the hands of some of the same people who helped fuel the latest uptick in cases.
              ...“

Yeah, do all that to keep case count low, then let Trump and the RNC come into town with a large crowd, no social distancing, and no face task to fuck everything up again.

They will not do all that. Edwards announced yesterday, we will remain in Phase 2 for 28 more days. Big deal...People, particularly young people, have said to hell with it and are living life as usual.

I suspect Florida is doing the same thing.

So it's already killed off the nursing home population, eh? Heck, the ones that are left can now get infected by the young workers. Swell.

Here's some time perspective for Florida - re-opening vs cases vs deaths.

Texas and Arizona also in the Twitter thread. Arizona is interesting.

Toward the end of the thread there's California.

Was thinking something similar regarding the lag. Let’s see the numbers of hospitalizations in Mid-July and deaths in early August.

Still, the younger ages of the infected will likely result in lower rates of hospitalizations and deaths, so the truth will again be somewhere in the middle.

Yeah, none of these tweets will age well. You would expect the first to venture out to the bars and theaters etc to be young. And for that matter protests. But when we get to the 2nd and 3rd generation of case spawned by that crowd, the age distribution will broaden.

It's really only been about 2.5 weeks since the cases took off. And they really took off only in the last few days.
