Here's a good idea for pizza shops.

Great idea. They should only have them for large and extra large pizzas—mediums and smalls don't need 'em anyway—and it should be a garlic knot. Free sample.

See, there you go complicating a nice, simple idea.
Fuck that, I'm punching it up! If you're gonna do a thing, might as well make every part of it count!

I'm surprised they don't adjust the pizza box so that there is a hard cardboard thing in the middle to keep it from denting in.
BTW there's also a debate if pizza boxes are recyclable.

Because if you did that you'd have 2 options.
- Redesign the box. In which case you'd have to get the box from a different supplier. Restaurants pay absolute bottom dollar for their pizza box supply because it cuts into their margins, which are thin enough as it is. They'd have to find a company who actually makes a box like that, which would be very hard to come by, and almost certainly they'd charge more. Not worth the hassle.
- Make your own inserts. Which would require cannibalizing existing boxes to make the insert. Takes much more time and effort than just throwing dough in the box, and it wastes more money than wasting dough.

In March 2020, Pizza Hut Hong Kong and furniture retailer IKEA entered a joint venture with the creation of a new side table called a SÄVA, which was designed to resemble a pizza saver. The table would be boxed in packaging resembling a pizza box, and the building instructions included a suggestion to order a Swedish meatball pizza from Pizza Hut, which would contain the same meatballs served in IKEA restaurants.
I had Pizza Hut delivery a few days ago, there was no plastic saver in the box, just pizza.
