Although...he claimed that the tossed medals weren't his, but belonged to someone else.

On the channel I watched Mr Kerry was identified and simply described as a one time runner for president. That was it.
I did wonder why he was invited.Perhaps because he's all into global-hot/cold/wet/dry like Charles?
