5 days a week....
-
I may be in the minority here, but I do think that in person work is better than remote. Of course, that may not mean 5 days a week, but I also think that 100% remote is bad.
(Yes, yes, I know different job functions are different, but people are social creatures. I think you do lose mentorship, etc. or just connection if you are remote all the time.)
I have done a lot of flying and many times, the travel times was more than the time spent at location. But I think the in person connection was worth it.

Not sure what it is about those who find great value in the office interactions, always assuming that same value exists for everybody else, if only everybody else would just realize and admit it.

You know what it is? We just haven't thought about as much as they have. We really should do that.

There is definitely a value to in-person reaction. I don't mind going in 2-3 days a week in the slightest. I've been told to go in 5 days to manage a team of 7, 6 of them work from home on Mondays and Fridays, and the other one works in the UK, so I see him in person maybe twice a year.
I'm sure we're not the only company doing this.

My team is very much like the 18 others under the same department: most of the workers are in different timezones. When they made it mandatory to go back into the office for those who lived near the office (about 13% of those 18 teams), they said it was because in-person communication was important and "nobody likes to talk to 2D people."
Which, nice, motherfucker.

I'm looking forward to the next employee survey.
Because they really make a difference.

If you'd like to post some fecal deposits to an address via an unattached intermediary, I may know a guy.
I'm serious. He wouldn't even charge.

"OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says the remote work ‘experiment’ was a mistake—and ‘it’s over’ "
"He isn’t alone in his assessment. Many CEOs have been demanding that remote employees spend more time in the office, among them Bob Iger at Disney, Howard Schultz at Starbucks, and Robert Thomson at News Corp. During the pandemic, remote work or a hybrid work schedule was the only option for many office workers—and many grew to prefer it to being in the office every workday."

We are still trying to figure out how to work remotely in the hospital biz...
Sure, but it still makes more sense for some industries.
