Part of my full time remote employee paperwork was that I did not live near enough to an office to drive in. I guess they could build an office next to me, if they wanted to ruin my day.
This morning we were notified of some layoffs in my division. I'm glad they're doing that, rather than an unconscionable demand for coming into the office.

The annoying thing for us is that business is really booming - we just had two banner years. The fact that middle managers need to come in on Mondays and Fridays when nobody else will be here is just plain dumb. Unless of course they're building up to the next massively unpopular announcement.

I may be in the minority here, but I do think that in person work is better than remote. Of course, that may not mean 5 days a week, but I also think that 100% remote is bad.

I have done a lot of flying and many times, the travel times was more than the time spent at location. But I think the in person connection was worth it.

I've been working completely remote for about three years now. In that time, I have:
- Saved 1.74 months of my life and about $5,320 not sitting in traffic
- Dropped my blood pressure by 17/8 and my pulse by 20 bpm by exercising more
- Lost 18 lbs
- Spent about 460 more hours with my daughter
- Worked 186 more hours
If people want to work in an office or on a hybrid schedule, more power to 'em. But everyone who'd like to tell me what's best for me or tell me how lazy I've been can suck donkey dicks.

There is definitely a value to in-person reaction. I don't mind going in 2-3 days a week in the slightest. I've been told to go in 5 days to manage a team of 7, 6 of them work from home on Mondays and Fridays, and the other one works in the UK, so I see him in person maybe twice a year.
I'm sure we're not the only company doing this.

My team is very much like the 18 others under the same department: most of the workers are in different timezones. When they made it mandatory to go back into the office for those who lived near the office (about 13% of those 18 teams), they said it was because in-person communication was important and "nobody likes to talk to 2D people."
