    I was listening to this on NPR tonight. Sounds like a good idea to me, for the most part. Might be a little too much, but better that than too little. Tech companies are against it because it reduces their advertising revenue.

      I'm highly skeptical that this problem can be legislated away.

      Also, wouldn't conservatives consider this to be governmental interference in parental and individual rights?

      I was only joking

        No. It’s a reinforcement of parental authority over their children.

          Yeah this seems similar to basically trying to ban access to the internet, but then again... I would very much like social media to not exist when my kids are older. I did, and said, so many dumb things as a teenager, I can't imagine how things would play out in a videos-everywhere instant-information world.

            I agree. Most website today may have a thing that says for example, "Only can access if you are above 15 years old. Click here ONLY if you are above 15" Like that is going to stop any body.

            The only way to do it is like China, requiring proof of identity to have a phone. I dont think we want to go that far.

              Why not pass a law that kids legally have to go to their room when sent there?

              Or maybe that they don't get a dessert until they've eaten all their broccoli?

              All great ideas, I'm sure.

                @Doctor-Phibes, are you expecting consistency?

                For some issues (like gun control), sure, the American Conservatives say let's not pass more laws that cannot be effectively enforced. But only for some issues.

                    Since you're not mentally stable, I think your guns should be seized.
