Seems like they are both right. He can be fired, but he can also stay until a replacement is confirmed.
Obviously, this looks bad. Mr. Barr has said that he will be above politics, (and maybe his reason in this case or very good and not politic at all) but he has not said why this is happening so it just looks as though the US attorney is being fired because of his investigation of friends of President Trump.

I love the that he finds out he's fired by press release. Not the first time this has happened.

My thread title is even more apt now than I initially thought it would be!
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/20/nyregion/trump-geoffrey-berman-fired-sdny.html
In Bill Barr’s publicly released letter to Berman:
“Because you have declared that you have no intention of resigning, I have asked the President to remove you as of today, and he has done so.”Then:
“Speaking briefly to reporters outside the White House before heading to a campaign rally in Tulsa, Okla., Mr. Trump appeared to try to distance himself from the firing. Mr. Trump insisted that he was “not involved,” despite Mr. Barr’s letter, which made clear that Mr. Trump had dismissed [Mr. Berman].What a twist!

He’s gone now.
This thread is no longer relevant.
He actually fired twice. The first time the stupid twat shot himself himself in the foot AGAIN, the second time, whether by luck or judgement, he actually managed to hit the intended target.

I'm fairly sure Trump is teetotal.
