Parent 6th Sense?

So we have a new van. Today I was in the garage with my two- and four-year-old as I was moving a car seat into the other vehicle, getting ready to go out to the local community center indoor pool.
Anyway, my four year-old had pressed the button to close the sliding door of the van…on the side opposite from where I was standing. My 2 year old was (was!) playing with something on the other side of the garage. Yet as I heard the sliding door begin to shut (not visible to where I was working) I had a spidey sense feeling and immediately dropped the car seat near the other vehicle and sprinted around the van to see my 2 year old’s hand in the part of the sliding door about to get caught and pinched (cringe…!!). In a single movement of sprinting, seeing, and grabbing his hand and yanking it away just as the door shut on it… luckily only ended up with some bruising and two small cuts, instead of a smashed finger.
I’m talking, truly a millisecond away from a really injured finger.
Thinking back…I had zero indication my 2 year old had gone over to the van but it’s weird how I reflexively dropped what I was doing and sprinted (SPRINTED) around the van just in time.
Just weird.

Yeah, but the 6th sense part is indeed interesting. Like having a sense that someone is watching you.
Actually, I would sometimes follow that 6th sense, when it said to me "naw, not feelin good vibes," and I would then decide against going for a bike ride. -
Try it with a stuffed toy or something, but I’m pretty sure the door would have stopped immediately on meeting any resistance.

Yes on the main part of the door that closes (let’s call it the leading edge) it should stop if it detects an object, but in this case my 2 year old put his fingers on inside of the back (trailing edge of the sliding door) which doesn’t stop for…well, a 2 year old’s pointer finger.

The Odyssey is a great truck, I've known several families that have owned it, never heard anything negative. Congrats!
Wait a sec -- you are doomed. Before you know it, you'll get another car, a 4-door (OMFG), then a Odyssey with wood paneling (groan), an electric lawn mower in the back (double groan), a bobble-head on the dashboard. Only chicks that will give you a look will be middle aged and older, the cool young single chicks will just point and roll their eyes, even if you're alone picking up a 6-pack. It's like a flag. A banner. That's it. You've had it. It's over, done.
I dunno. Maybe if you put some mags on it, might stave off the inevitable. Maybe not.

Honda Odyssey. We’ve had Hondas for years and have never had issues. It’s pretty cool, lots of little features that’ll make road trips suck less.

Big fan. We flip flopped between the Odyssey and the hybrid Sienna. I liked Odyssey better for the highway but Sienna for city.
