I've got a theory, at least for the U.S.
We are an extremely diverse country with a failing public school system and a huge influx of ill-educated illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants that face a significant language barrier.

Don't doubt Louisiana at all.
We've got a lot of stupid people. A lot of our smart young folks have moved to where the money is. The smart people that are left, make a living off of all the stupid people.

Average IQ 43 in Nepal?
That sounds way too extreme to be true.

Those rankings are probably out of date by now, as I moved out of Massachusetts.

Its risen significantly, but Rhode Island has been disproportionately harmed by its small state status.

An IQ of 43 means developmental impairment with the ability to read at optimistically the second grade level and an inability to do some everyday tasks (brushing your teeth and getting dressed) without assistance.

Average IQ in a country in the lowest 0.1% of the global IQ distribution? Sounds obviously wrong.

Anybody who doesn't have a high IQ is really missing out, it is awesome. But at least they have low IQ support groups, like DNC conventions.

A better title for the story would be "Average Education Level by Country", because I will think that that is what they are really testing.
If you have someone take an IQ test who have never been to school (even though they may be very smart), they will not do very well.
If you have a dumb person who has at least graduated high school, they will do better.
Just because they scored higher does not make them smarter.

The best way to increase your IQ is to do a lot of IQ tests.

The smart people all live in States where the temperature this last weekend was below zero, and they get 6 feet of snow every year.
Ya, sure
