And the bus driver and aide did nothing.

They're probably terrified of getting sued by the little thugs' parents if they step in.

It's the modern American dream - do something really bad, and then get "assaulted" by somebody trying to stop you. Make millions in compensation.

      I was only joking

Again with the culture of violence.

Why wait 10 years? Lock them them up now and save their communities some grief.

That poor girl. She appeared to be completely passive, there's just no kind of excuse for that.

She’d been enrolled in the school just 3 weeks. Her mother had actually called the school to report bullying that very day.

                The boy got arrested.

Normal rules do not apply to animals. Apparently, we have a dysfunctional neighborhood with a dysfunctional school, ran by people who either absolutely do not care or have been deprived of the necessary tools to enforce discipline, that they no longer care.

I assure you, this is not an isolated incident in several schools and school districts across the country.

At what point do we have to change how we enforce order in lawless places? Is it fair that these families have to grow up under constant threat?

You can't, until you learn ascending levels of violence coupled with hope for a better life. Justice must be quick, fair and enforced. Large stick, large carrot.

You also have to change the culture of the community, which helps aid and abet the criminal violence.

Perhaps limited areas of martial law. In any event we need to stop the glorification of thuggery.

I know a guy who was fired because he took a wooden bowling pin out of the hands of boy intent up on striking other children with the pin. You're not allowed to touch a child - and the school had a zero tolerance for that. I know a teacher who had a distraught child hug her - and she had to put her hands in the air - and just let the kid cling to her because... zero tolerance. Tis madness.

It’s insanity to put adults in positions of responsibility and then take away their ability to use judgement. Does anyone think that policy is stopping child abuse anywhere?
