I completely fail to understand this.

What's wrong with fried chicken and watermelon? Is that also political these days?

There's a stereotype that black people like to eat fried chicken and watermelon. Unfortunately we're in a society now that recoils at any black generalization? I don't even know any more.

It seems fine to talk about cultures, holidays, and associated foods enjoyed on that day...such as talking about eating tacos on a mexican-related holiday, or talking about eating pho during a Vietnamese-related event. Heck, Americans eating hot dogs and hamburgers on July 4th!

Thanks for the explanation. I still don't understand in what sense the post from Hanson can be conceived to be racist, even when I put my "woke" goggles on. Cultural appropriation? Or the post is considered to somehow make fun of black culture?
