He has distinguished himself by becoming the only secretary of transportation that anyone can name.

And that’s not because he’s done wonderful things.

I wonder why he gets so much attention.

Overall I like Pete. He was the adult on the debate stage, and his resume is bonkers. 7 languages, Harvard, Oxford, Rhodes scholar, military vet, classical pianist, mayor, secretary. Look how much you can do when you don’t have a wife!

He has a wife. Or maybe he's the wife. Whatever.

For all those credentials, he was an unpopular mayor. He has no experience whatsoever that qualified him for the presidency.

He has had one job over the last 2 years and he’s failed miserably.

Not perfect, but it looks like he did OK for South Bend.

He certainly has an impressive resume albeit not particularly one tailored to the highest levels of politics.

I did like that when campaigning he wasn’t only preaching to the choir, he was very comfortable giving interviews to right wing press.

He hasn’t impressed me as Transportation Secretary but I don’t know that anyone ever would.

@mik made me think of a question.

What exactly do you guys think are the qualifications to be President of the US?

                  Politics background? No politics?
                  Business experience? No business?

Is being mayor of a big city better than being governor of a small state?

                  International experience?

Maybe it is one of those things - you know it when you see it.

@taiwan_girl Sounds obvious since since the President is the head of the Executive Branch of government, but usually executive experience is helpful. Leadership, communication, thoughtful compromise when necessary, and sincerity/trustworthiness.

Yes, he is pretty quick to come back. Recent one he did with Fox News

                            QUOTE
Appearing as a guest on Baier’s show, Buttigieg was questioned about his travel arrangements and use of government jets, including an incident from last April that has been criticized by conservative media outlets in which Buttigieg’s husband, Chasten, accompanied him to the Invictus Games, “a multi-national sporting event for wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women” founded in 2014 by Britain's Prince Harry.

“You also brought your husband, Chasten, on a military aircraft to attend a sporting event in Netherlands,” Baier said in a video clip of the exchange that is racking up millions of views on Twitter.

When asked if that travel was reimbursed, Buttigieg, a veteran and former U.S. Navy intelligence officer, said, “Of course not.”

“I led a presidential delegation to support American wounded warriors and injured service members — the Invictus Games — as has been tradition for many years,” Buttigieg said. “I led the American delegation as one of the great honors of my time in this job, and the diplomatic protocol on a presidential delegation is that the principal is often accompanied by their spouse.”

“But here’s what I want you to understand,” he continued. “Before me, it was the Secretary of the Army under President Trump who took that trip with his wife. Before that, it was Mrs. Trump as first lady who went to the Invictus Games. Before that, Mrs. Obama did the same thing. And I guess the question on my mind is: If no one's raising questions about why Secretary [Mark] Esper and his wife led that delegation, as well they should have, then why is it any different when it’s me and my husband?”

Baier responded, “Understood,” before quickly switching to the next question.

Bret Baier always looks like a high school jock who's been entered into a spelling bee by his friends as a joke, and is trying to look convincing in his surprising new role.
