I think he was mostly embarrassed. Young guy, in his 20s. But appreciative.

This evening I noticed across the pond a couple dogs running free in no man's land between the water and the backyard fences of the waterfront homes. I hoped they were off leash but under control. 30 minutes later I drove down to our mailbox, which is at least a half mile from where I saw the dogs, and when I got out of the car, the two dogs ran up to me out of nowhere, very excited and wanting attention. Cute young dogs, maybe 6 months old, brothers from the looks of it. One had a collar, but no tag. The other didn't have a collar. It was dark and the dogs were clearly lost. I opened my back car door and they both jumped in. Drove home, feeling like a dognapper, and grabbed two leashes and took them for a walk towards where I had seen them running before. Within 20 minutes the owner drove past and relieved us of them. That could have gone a lot worse. Might have had to figure out accommodations with our two existing dogs.
Can't very well just leave them outside running around to get run over by a car, right?

Thanks TG. Funny thing, I found a small lizard in the car a couple days later. I am very sure it got there by hitching a ride on one of those dogs. I shooed it out if the car before my wife saw it thank goodness.
