I am not a fan of Chardonnays unless they are white Burgundies which I cannot afford very often. From anywhere else most of them are overly rich, sweet, and generally not pleasant nor very good with food. They tire my palate after about two sips.
There are exceptions, but they are generally very pricey. This is an exception to that rule. Buttery, but not overly so, citrus and pineapple and not so much oak that you are picking splinters from your teeth. Very well balanced and tasty, great acid for food. Surprisingly good for a Trinchero wine. I usually don't care much for their line.
2017 Cloudfall Monterey Chardonnay. $15.

Well, I like both red wine and head.
