Well, I am not sure, but I was in Japan one time and looking through the channels, and there he was being interviewed in Japanese.

So, he is kind of fluent or he is a much much better actor than any of us realized! 555

              Settlement.

Alec Baldwin and the production team of “Rust” reached a settlement in the wrongful death lawsuit of Halyna Hutchins on Wednesday. In the agreement, the movie established a date to return to production, and got a new executive producer — Hutchins’ widowed husband.

Halyna Hutchins, the film’s cinematographer, was killed on the set of the film nearly a year ago, after Baldwin fired a prop gun he was told was “cold.” The incident prompted a widespread investigation, and Hutchins’ family filed their lawsuit back in February.

“We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed,” Matthew Hutchins, husband of Halyna Hutchins, said via his attorney Brian Panish of Panish | Shea | Boyle | Ravipudi LLP.

He continued: “The filming of Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume with all the original principal players on board in January 2023. I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”

The settlement comes just a few weeks after a hearing in which a New Mexico district attorney said that her office could be close to charging up to four people in the incident with criminal charges relating to homicide.

‘No impact’ on criminal case: DA

“The proposed settlement announced today in Matthew Hutchins’ wrongful death case against Rust movie producers, including Alec Baldwin, in the death of Halyna Hutchins will have no impact on District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies’ ongoing investigation or her ultimate decision whether to file criminal charges in the case,” said Heather Brewer, spokesperson for the Santa Fe District Attorney’s Office in New Mexico, in a statement shortly after news of the settlement was announced.

“While civil suits are settled privately and often involve financial awards, criminal cases deal only in facts. If the facts and evidence warrant criminal charges under New Mexico law then charges will be brought,” the statement continues.

“No one is above the law,” it warned.

Alec Baldwin sues several ‘Rust’ crew members for handing him loaded gun

Alec Baldwin filed a lawsuit against several crew members of “Rust” on Friday for providing him with the loaded gun that he fired on set, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last year.

Baldwin, who is awaiting a decision on whether he’ll face criminal charges in the shooting, accused the movie’s armorer and first assistant director, among others, of negligence in a cross-complaint following a lawsuit filed against him last year by script supervisor Mamie Mitchell.

Baldwin’s attorney, Luke Nikas, said the crew members did not maintain safety on the New Mexico film set.

“This tragedy happened because live bullets were delivered to the set and loaded into the gun,” Nikas wrote in the suit.

Baldwin’s suit names Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film’s rookie armorer who was in charge of handling guns and ammunition, as well as assistant director David Halls, who handed the loaded gun to Baldwin after he announced it was safe.

Sarah Zachry, the head of the crew’s props department, and Seth Kenney, who supplied the guns and ammunition to the set, were also named.

There are plenty of reasons to think that Alec Baldwin is a horrible person. If you need another, here you go:

Alec Baldwin slams Halyna Hutchins' family as 'misguided' in request to dismiss wrongful death lawsuit

Alec Baldwin requested a wrongful death lawsuit filed against him by the family of Halyna Hutchins be dismissed with prejudice on Thursday.

"The loss of a daughter and sister is undoubtedly painful in any circumstance," lawyers for the actor wrote in court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. "Yet Plaintiffs – who had been distanced from Halyna physically, financially, and emotionally for years before her death – have no viable cause of action against Defendants. This action is especially misguided."

Baldwin's legal team specifically noted that the plaintiff has to be married to the decedent in California law to receive compensation for a wrongful death. Additionally, the lawyers argued Hutchins' family could not prove a "sufficiently close relationship" with the cinematographer, which is necessary under New Mexico law.

I don’t know what the standard for it is in CA, but I could easily imagine this rising to it. Perhaps for more than one person on the set.

                                    On who's part?

                                    Not Baldwin's.

Don’t forget that Baldwin’s culpability goes beyond being an actor. As producer he could be held responsible.

It would have to be recklessness or negligence. I think since he is not the one responsible for the prop gun and has hired a person to take care of those details, negligence is a high hill to climb.

The decision to dismiss charges against Baldwin is being made after new evidence came to the attention of investigators indicating the gun used in the shooting had been modified, a source familiar with the investigation told CNN.

Still unanswered is how a live round made it into a "prop" pistol on the set.

The are still pursuing charges against the armorer.

The guy who handed the pistol to Baldwin pled "Nolo." He was sentenced to 6 months' probation.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

                                          Could still be charged:

He denies pulling the trigger, but a forensic analysis found the pistol could not have been fired without the trigger being pulled.

The special prosecutors on the case, Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis, commissioned a new forensic examination of the gun and have been waiting on the results before deciding whether to refile the charges. The report, by Lucien and Michael Haag, was submitted to them earlier this month and released Tuesday in a public court filing.

The experts reconstructed the gun, which had been broken during earlier testing by the FBI, and concluded that it could only have been fired by a pull of the trigger.

“This fatal incident was the consequence of the hammer being manually retracted to its fully rearward and cocked position followed, at some point, by the pull or rearward depression of the trigger,” the report concluded. “Although Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver.”
