Star Wars: Andor

I'd pretty much given up on the Star Wars franchise, finding much of it too cute for my tastes. Never cared for episodic nature of "The Mandalorian."
"Rogue One" is a distant memory, and I can't really remember anything unique or compelling about it. Supposedly, it got reasonable reception.
So, there's a prequel out there. "Andor."
It's set 5 years before "Rogue One," and it sets up the rebellion which we see in "A New Hope," episode 4 (or 1, depending on how you look at it).
Reviews are generally very good, and the trailer looks great.
Anyone see it? I'm looking for a series to dive into...

I like the SW universe.
The lead character in Andor isn’t particularly compelling but some of the others are interesting

My brother said it’s good. I’m currently in season 2 of Mando. I also watched the Obi Wan series, that was fun. But you want real fun? The Solo movie was way better than expected. Lots of cool action and dialog.

I haven't seen this week's episode yet, but I watched all the others.
It has a pretty good story, it fits with the other Star Wars shows.
The costumes are nice.

So, Andor seasons 1 and 2 are fully available (season 2 just released it's last episode on Tuesday). What a great series. Both seasons (for me) started out slow, but really ramped up into some absolutely fantastic story telling and visuals. There are no spoilers but for example in season 2, I think it's episodes like 6 through 9, they have such subtle tension that builds up and becomes palpable... the music, the traps, the audience knowing what is about to happen but still not sure HOW it will happen. It's just great "cinema".

Disney+. Hm, not sure it's worth a whole new subscription, no matter how extraordinarily wealthy I definitely am. But I would like to see it.

Depends if you like Star Wars. Their series have been great (Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Andor, Obi Wan...) they tell stories that fill the gaps in the time between the main movies. Since they are not confined to the 2-3 hour runtime of a movie, the shows actually churn out some really great content.
But I hear you on subscriptions... it's a bit ridiculous how fragmented everything is once again.

We're going to subscribe for 1 month, watch it and Doctor Who (woke edition), and then unsubscribe again.
We dropped Disney a while back, it's not worth keeping permanently.

Not a bad idea. I subscribed to HBO to watch a few things, but forgot to unsubscribe. Guess that's part of the business model assumptions.

HBO Max, which they rename between Max and HBO Max periodically, is a worthwhile subscription. I find it so at least. They are changing the name back to HBO Max soon, which is what I think it started as. HBO->HBO Max->Max->HBO Max has been the progression. I am excited to see what new name change is in the works in the AI era!

Just imagine how many corporate meetings were spent on the name changes!

I discovered that I was subscribing to Max twice. I am afraid to look for how long. It comes with my AT&T wireless bundle, but I was also subscribing as an add-on with my hulu. I removed it and added Disney+ for an extra $1 per month. I couldn't afford not to.
