      That isn't a competence thing. Mik's right.

I saw where he was texting yesterday that Republicans are coming for your Social Security again. Any idea what was behind that?

A few things I can think of …

        1. The GOP’s proposed budget contains proposals to increase Social Security retirement age and adjustment to benefit calculation formulae, which you can read starting from around page 80:
          https://banks.house.gov/uploadedfiles/fy23_budget_final_copy.pdf

        2. Ron Johnson calls for turning Social Security and Medicare into discretionary spending programs:

        3. Rick Scott’s proposal has the side effect of requiring Congress to re-authorize Social Security and Medicare every five years (else they “sunset” out of existence):

I think he means the Republicans want to reduce inflation.

I figured it out… Apparently Senator Scott has made the suggestion that all congressional laws should have a sunset every five years and need to be re-enacted. Since Social Security was established through Congress and since Scott endorsed privatizing Social Security 14 years ago, and since privatizing is Racist Code for “ending” then Republicans must want to end Social Security…

Some intern is probably getting yelled at as we speak.

The question is who posted it and who caught it? While I’m pretty sure he doesn’t tweet, it does sound like a claim he would make.

It is not a drastic departure from the sensibilities of the rest of the white house economic messaging. They changed it probably because there was sufficient pushback, likely originating from outside the white house. Maybe even the twitter responses themselves. It's a nice fantasy that there are better minds than that at the reins of the Twitter account, but that would be wishful thinking, contradicted by the actual evidence.

Are they allowed to delete the tweet? Aren’t all White House Communications required to be archived by Federal Law? I would imagine that would include tweets…

The adults in the room allow interns to post to the Twitter account unsupervised, but they also know way better than what gets posted. Man, it would suck to rationalize this administration.

They don't own the platform. But you can absolutely fill out a FOIA, not that it much matters. Others have written bots to archive such things. It's nearly impossible for a government social handle to actually delete anything.

In effect, there are countless copies posted across the internet, but much like the ugly ties I’ve received for nearly 20 Father’s Day, it’s the thought that counts…

As I think about it, I’m pretty sure there was some problem with Trump deleting a tweet and all holy hell broke loose…

Sure would be nice for Presidential communications to go away from Twitter, IMO.
