I just posted this on the HOA facebook group.

    A dangerous game

For a few years now, I have been the first guy on the golf course, almost every day.

I play with one or two other guys, and we play very fast, usually between 90 and 120 minutes starting around sunrise.

As the first golfers out, we are the first that you are likely to see if you are on the golf course.

I’m not a cop. I won’t bust you or give you a lecture about the rules.

But I must let you know; I don’t want to kill you or your dog.

If my ball hits you in the head that is a real possibility.

That’s it, no lecture, just please be vigilant. I will never hit my ball if I see someone in front of me. And that is a regular occurrence. This message is not for just one person, there are several. Today there was one that was much closer than I would like. I never saw him until after I played my ball.

Golf courses are not dog parks. Find somewhere else to walk them.

Yup. Well said. I was hit by a ball once while looking for my own. I was maybe 15. It hurt. That could easily kill a dog.

Does the golf course have rules against walking (or walking your pet)? I know some neighborhood courses allow walking in the early or late hours when the course is usually empty.

The owner's policy is that it is always off limit and he will prosecute trespassers. I don't know of any prosecutions.

People still walk there, it is a nice place.
