Nice view Horace. Do you find it distracting when you work out?

Phibes, I hope and your family share many happy memories in your new home.

Thanks Friday! It’s not distracting. I’m usually watching something in my iPad anyway. If I look up, I fall over. Still developing my treadmill balance. I’ve never used them before, and I got this one especially for its incline, which makes balancing harder.

Before and after of the bedroom...it's still a work in progress. They're chopping down trees today.

Looks cozy. I would miss the ceiling fan. Love those things.

@Doctor-Phibes Excellent! I'm surprised you weren't a fan of the Eggplant paint.

The room looks great, Phibes! The wood floor is bright, the ceiling is not the grey color, or was it popcorn? Anyway, a lot of work, but well worth it. Did you touch a paint brush just to see how it works, or did you leave it all to the professionals?

We had somebody come in and paint most of the house white. It took him a good three weeks, but it was worth it, as the muck left behind by 30 years of heavy smoking was horrendous.

We'll do the colours once we've had the chance to settle in a little.

The wood floors were an amazing difference - they all came up so much brighter than what we first had.

It's much easier to envision other colors when you have white to start with. Good move.

Agreed. Most of our home had the original 2005 builder paint color of a muted tan/yellow. Overall not bad, but just too much throughout the house, so we replaced most of it with an off-white, a grey/blue, or gray in a few bedrooms. Only other major project is to replace carpet. Paint and carpet (or hardwood refinishing, in your case) make a YUGE difference.

Our previous owners also had some really heavy drapes that we tore down. Beautiful windows behind it, many with trees outside, so we didn't need the shade the curtains provided.

                        Don't use wallpaper

It might seem cool or fun or trendsetting or artistic

Hell, no. My parents had it up, but mostly because the walls were shot.

We have pink paper from the 80's or 90's up in one of the rooms. What a PITA it's going to be taking it down. Thankfully, it's the room Mrs. Phibes has designated as her 'crafting space'.

We got tile for our patio. I did all the work myself. Drove to the bank, withdrew cash, then used some good ol’ elbow grease to place that cash into the hands of a handyman. I think it turned out great, if I do say so myself.

Thanks! We also put in an ostentatious chandelier, as befits an ostentatious person such as myself. The entryway needs a lot more work though. We have a console table coming from Etsy which is very beautiful. Then we need to put stuff on the walls.
