I don't usually post from this outlet, but I was with my cousin, a Colorado State Trooper on the governor's security detail in Denver, and he confirms this assessment.

Listen, not to sound too <whatever> but it seems these trends (which have been in cities like Baltimore and Philadelphia, and DC, for a while) are expanding into enlightened cities like Denver, San Fran, Portland. There isn't a magic wand, but it helps to have an emphasis on economic stability, conservative ideals, emphasis on family values, yes...religion, and a respected and strong law enforcement presence, etc. Dismissing those in favor of liberal "tolerant of anything [except what I deem intolerant]" policies is a recipe for short term free humanism but long term degradation of the quality of life.

I routinely post from the NYP and the WE. I look on them much as the papers of the 1950's and earlier, where many cities had two papers of competing political views.
Just because it's the NYT or WaPo, I think we've all learned by now they are not unbiased sources of news.

@Jolly when I was young, we got the times delivered in the early morning and bought the late edition of the NYP in early evening.
But then again the post was not such a sensationalist paper then.
We didn’t get the daily news. That was more blue collar I think. That’s all The news New York had to offer
