It does seem inconsistent to ban beach going but be fine with the protests, from a virus-standpoint. This pretty much means the lockdowns are over. I guess we will know in 3 weeks of outdoor mass gatherings of young people with most wearing masks is ok virus-wise. If this is ok, outdoor concerts and sporting events should be ok, no?

By “over” I mean “no longer have popular support among most people”, with various and sundry reasons given.

In Show Of Solidarity, COVID-19 Vows Not To Infect Anyone Protesting Inequality

                      alt text

In a powerful show of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, COVID-19 has vowed not to infect anyone protesting inequality.

The official COVID-19 account tweeted out, "In solidarity with those protesting inequality, I hereby vow not to infect anyone at BLM rallies."

"We need to take a moment to pause and hear what these people are saying," the virus said in a statement. "All infectious activities will be put on hiatus until Republicans start protesting lockdowns or second amendment issues -- then we will resume."

"It wouldn't be fair for us to continue business as usual when liberals want to protest."

The virus vowed to stay put in infected individuals, lying dormant until the pandemic became convenient for the media to cover once again.

It also posted a black square on its Instagram account.

Is that true in Texas even now?

Continued hypocrisy on the Floyd matter wouldn't surprise me, but misleading accusations from Matt Walsh wouldn't either.

Within these groups, individuals should, to the extent possible, minimize in- person contact with others not in the individual’s household. Minimizing in-person contact includes maintaining 6 feet of separation from individuals. When maintaining 6 feet of separation is not feasible, other methods should be utilized to slow the spread of COVID-19, such as wearing a face covering or mask, washing or sanitizing hand frequently, and avoiding sharing utensils or other common objects.

 Individuals should maintain 6 feet of separation from others outside the individual’s group. A group is defined as no more than 10 persons including the members of the household and those persons who traveled together to the event."

Another memorial service will be held on June 6 in Raeford, North Carolina, the state where Floyd was born, at Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters. A public viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. local time and a memorial service will start at 3 p.m.

The celebration of life services will head to Houston, Texas, where Floyd had previously lived, on June 8. A public visitation will occur at The Fountain of Praise on Hillcroft Avenue from noon to 6 p.m. local time.

Former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather stepped up to pay for the funeral expenses, Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, told ABC News on Tuesday. Ellerbe also confirmed that the Floyd family has accepted the offer.

A private funeral service will be held at the same location on June 9 at 11 a.m. local time, which former Vice President Joe Biden is expected to attend, Crump said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Is that true in Texas even now?

                                Phase 3:

                                For outdoor events:

"Individuals should avoid being in a group larger than 10 individuals (including those within the individual’s household).
                                ...
 Local approval for large outdoor gatherings (those with an estimated attendance exceeding 500 individuals) is appropriate in this instance because a statewide standard is unable to take into account the various factors needed to ensure such a gathering in varied locations is safe and will minimize the spread of COVID-19. Further, business parity is not an issue at large outdoor events.

So the first rule sounds like 'no' and the second rule sounds like 'yes, if you get permission'

Yeah, I don't get it. You have to get "local approval."

Mass demonstrations in all fifty states have upended reopening timetables and altered the meaning of the antiviral fight.

But the blame game has been permanently altered. Let’s see who stays in now that blame isn’t a good reason.
