    What's the epidemiological lesson if we don't see a spike? It seems silly to wait for data when we already think we know good vs bad practice.

    Nothing. If no spike, it'll mean mostly that more protesters than not were wearing masks.

      Very few protesters are 80+ years of age. However if such a protester existed, I would be thrilled to see a long form CNN story written about their inspiring story of courage. Maybe RBG can make an appearance.

      Education is extremely important.

        How about she tosses a Molotov cocktail at a capitol police vehicle? I’d pay to see that.

          Well, @Loki now we have the Associated Press writing about
          ā€œMassive U.S. Protests Raise Fears Of New Coronavirus Outbreaksā€,
          and it’s carried by the Huffington Post:

          https://www.huffpost.com/entry/protests-raise-fears-coronavirus-outbreaks_n_5ed3966bc5b6535fe4b8b3ca

          ā€œHealth experts fear that silent carriers of the virus who have no symptoms could unwittingly infect others at protests where people are packed cheek to jowl, many without masks.ā€

          Now that we’ve got this one covered, maybe you can go find another topic on which to blame the press of bias. šŸ˜‰

          Oh, shame on Trumpā€˜s CDC for not publishing any public health guidelines on how to safely protest/riot during the COVID-19 pandemic. šŸ‘æ

                It does seem inconsistent to ban beach going but be fine with the protests, from a virus-standpoint. This pretty much means the lockdowns are over. I guess we will know in 3 weeks of outdoor mass gatherings of young people with most wearing masks is ok virus-wise. If this is ok, outdoor concerts and sporting events should be ok, no?

                                  In Show Of Solidarity, COVID-19 Vows Not To Infect Anyone Protesting Inequality

                                  In a powerful show of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, COVID-19 has vowed not to infect anyone protesting inequality.

                                  The official COVID-19 account tweeted out, "In solidarity with those protesting inequality, I hereby vow not to infect anyone at BLM rallies."

                                  "We need to take a moment to pause and hear what these people are saying," the virus said in a statement. "All infectious activities will be put on hiatus until Republicans start protesting lockdowns or second amendment issues -- then we will resume."

                                  "It wouldn't be fair for us to continue business as usual when liberals want to protest."

                                  The virus vowed to stay put in infected individuals, lying dormant until the pandemic became convenient for the media to cover once again.

                                  It also posted a black square on its Instagram account.

                                      Is that true in Texas even now?

                                        Is that true in Texas even now?

                                        Phase 3:

                                        For outdoor events:

                                        "Individuals should avoid being in a group larger than 10 individuals (including those within the individual’s household). Within these groups, individuals should, to the extent possible, minimize in- person contact with others not in the individual’s household. Minimizing in-person contact includes maintaining 6 feet of separation from individuals. When maintaining 6 feet of separation is not feasible, other methods should be utilized to slow the spread of COVID-19, such as wearing a face covering or mask, washing or sanitizing hand frequently, and avoiding sharing utensils or other common objects.

                                        ļ‚£ Individuals should maintain 6 feet of separation from others outside the individual’s group. A group is defined as no more than 10 persons including the members of the household and those persons who traveled together to the event."
                                        ...
                                        ļ‚£ Local approval for large outdoor gatherings (those with an estimated attendance exceeding 500 individuals) is appropriate in this instance because a statewide standard is unable to take into account the various factors needed to ensure such a gathering in varied locations is safe and will minimize the spread of COVID-19. Further, business parity is not an issue at large outdoor events.
                                        ļ‚£ In evaluating large gatherings (those with an estimated attendance exceeding 500 individuals), the county judge or the mayor, as applicable, in consultation with the local public health authority, should consider the following factors:
                                        ļ‚£ The overall number of projected attendees;
                                        ļ‚£ The likelihood of individuals over the age of 65 attending;
                                        ļ‚£ The density of the forum and the ability to ensure social distancing of 6 feet between individuals; and
                                        ļ‚£ The level of transmission in the county.
                                        ļ‚£ Gatherings of less than 500 individuals may proceed consistent with all the health protocols above

                                        Another memorial service will be held on June 6 in Raeford, North Carolina, the state where Floyd was born, at Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters. A public viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. local time and a memorial service will start at 3 p.m.

                                        The celebration of life services will head to Houston, Texas, where Floyd had previously lived, on June 8. A public visitation will occur at The Fountain of Praise on Hillcroft Avenue from noon to 6 p.m. local time.

                                        Former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather stepped up to pay for the funeral expenses, Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, told ABC News on Tuesday. Ellerbe also confirmed that the Floyd family has accepted the offer.

                                        A private funeral service will be held at the same location on June 9 at 11 a.m. local time, which former Vice President Joe Biden is expected to attend, Crump said at a press conference on Tuesday.

                                          So the first rule sounds like 'no' and the second rule sounds like 'yes, if you get permission'
