If you needed another reason to hate BMWs...

From what I understand, you can either choose to just buy heated seats, and then there's no subscription.
You only get the option to subscribe if you don't pay for heated seats but then want heated seats anyway.
Sounds like a fair deal to me.

Sounds like a carny-barker deal to me! Step right up, suckas! This is the first I've heard of a subscription for car amenities! Hats off to Mik and Jon!
I hate being cold more than anything on earth, and I would freeze to death before I paid a subscription for their lousy seats. Greedy barstids.

It only gives you additional options. For free. Having options always has a positive value, economists say.

I managed to scrape by for over 40 years without heated car seats. Now suddenly, they're a necessity. Even my cheapo Subaru has them.

I'm just surprised that something as basic as heated seats is even an option on a car like BMW.
I may be missing it, but heated seats are standard on the A4.

In the US.
If you order a BMW or an Audi over here, the base model has basically nothing. You are lucky if it features 4 wheels.

I don't have heated seats in my Cadillac.
Don't worry about me, I'm ok
The important thing is that it is a domestic car, mostly

Want your BMW seats warmed? You’ll have to pay a monthly fee for that in some countries.
Bayerische Motoren Werke AG BMW -2.63%▼ is charging customers extra for heated seats in countries such as the U.K., Germany, New Zealand and South Africa.
Monthly fees for front-seat heating costs roughly $15 in South Africa, $17 in Germany, $18 in the U.K., and $30 in New Zealand, according to BMW websites in those countries. Customers can pay for one month, one year, three years or for unlimited service. They can also do a one-month trial in some countries.
A BMW spokesman said the option to buy additional car functions “is part of a global aftersales strategy that BMW has introduced in various markets around the world, including on a small-scale basis in the U.S.” He added that the features vary among markets.
In the U.S., 90% of BMW vehicles already come with heated seats, the spokesman said. The company does offer some subscription-based features for U.S. customers like for a camera in the car to record while a person is driving.
