Everybody who kills lots of people in a mass shooting is fucked up in one way or another - it's a prerequisite. The last school shooting was initially blamed on the guy being trans, except of course it turns out he wasn't. Somebody else immediately assumed the guy in Denmark was a Muslim, except of course he wasn't.

- Modern life is screwy in ways that are unique to our time. But like always, there exist toxic subcultures that do more harm to people than good. (No, I don't think transgenderism per se is a toxic subculture. But they do have their share of toxic participants, and any objective analysis would demonstrate that. You can say the same about Christian Fundamenalists or Muslims if you like, the point is the same.)
- Mass shootings are a social contagion. In the 1500s it was witch hunts. A hundred years later, it was the Dancing Plague. Today, we have mass shootings.
Without knowing the specifics, I feel comfortable saying this person probably suffers from both of the above.
