With other drugs they tell you the street value seized. With fentanyl it’s how many deaths worth.

It is THE biggest problem in America today. More deaths than COVID, IIRC.

Yet, we're worried about Roe v. Wade, etc.

If we were really serious about problems in the country and journalism, there would be at least one lead story every week, maybe more.

      It's mostly crickets....

How is the fentanyl used? I assume the Mexican cartels primary motivation isn't pain relief for terminal cancer patients...

All sorts of ways. They mix it in with heroin, or just cut it way down and sell it as heroin. They press it into pills that resemble prescription opiates. They cut cocaine with it, which is weird because they have opposite effects.

It's a great drug, used properly. Used illegally it's a nightmare.

For a sense of perspective, I routinely used fentanyl as an induction agent for heart surgery. Typical dose was 2 milligrams. Every patient I gave that to stopped breathing.

            Every Single One.

What these agents seized was about 52 kilograms of fentanyl.

            Or about 52,000 grams.

            Or about 52 million milligrams.

Two milligrams would put every one of my patients to sleep and stop respirations. Now, understand that this is with intravenous administration. If pressed into pills, I'm not sure what the potency would be. Fentanyl has been used as a "lolipop" where it's absorbed trans-mucosally, but oral absorption I'm unsure of.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

And I feel bold when I take 3 Advil instead of 2.

I take 1 Advil most mornings

I have tried to find the long term effect of that a couple times. I don't think I ever found anything scary. It does seem to loosen up the joints.
