They have freedom and use it to act like bleeding idiots.
Sure, go ahead, here's you freedom, act like a loon, I hope you enjoy it.
And don't bother asking me to have a loon mind my money.

The people whining about it are the customers who don't like the freedom being given to the employees. The Halifax isn't forcing it on anybody.
In this case, it's the anti-woke bunch who are being all how-dare-you about things.
So you think this self-delusion a good thing?
You can say you are whatever you want. Just don't expect me to respect it or participate.

I agree with @Doctor-Phibes Boycotts of a specific store (or something similar) usually do not work very well.
The majority of Peoples values and their willingness to follow them only goes so far, maybe unfortunately.

I can't speak for Scotland, but the bank business in the U.S. is so competitive, you don't want to lose customers for stupid reasons.
Ask Disney how some of the woke stuff is working out for them. OTOH, probably the least woke movie of the summer just passed $1B in revenue, and is still making money. If there's anything Hollywood respects, it's a dollar.

@Jolly Maybe banks are different, but others ones don't have much affect.

Basi ally, LOL
When is comes to consumer things,
prices >>> morals

I hate organized boycotts of things. It's a horrible, horrible precedent for a free nation. If you don't like a business, don't patronize it. But don't try to get people en masse to do likewise to hurt the business. Who you are really hurting is the employees and the many people who may own stock in them.

So according to you, it's perfectly fine if the bank allows its employees to offend csome of its customers, but it's not ok for those customers to do their business elsewhere...... they should just suck it up and take it....
Somehow I think if the cause of this was that bank employers were passing out Christian reading material nd some of the customers went to other banks because of it your opinion would be the opposite of what it is now...
The bank, and its employees, have the right to call themselves whatever they want. The customers have just as much right to go somewhere else to do their banking.
-
The do not have the right to expect you to use pronouns that they pick for themselves. I will never go along with that. it's just stupid. This is a series of pics my niece posted. The whole world should adapt to trans people's desires, and feel bad if they don't do it right.
Sheer idiocy.
-
OTOH, it does present a problem. While I wouldn't use any of your niece's suggestions, I'm not sure what I'd say if someone tried to correct me. I don't want trans to insist to me that I use their preference; I equally don't want to be a belligerent asshole about it. That's just committing the same transgression* in reverse.
*See what I did there?

They can correct me. I'm not playing the game. Their delusions can end at the end of their nose.
There are times when one should be polite and go along to get along. There are other times where you can't make me conform to societal madness and I just flat-ass ain't doing it.

No, they can leave if they want. That's fine, it's really up to them.
But I don't think they will. It's a lot easier to complain on the internet than it is to change banks.

The one time I have been corrected I responded by insisting that I refer to them as “comrade” and they refer to me by the same. It certainly ended the nonsense there and then.

I see your point, but the thing is I don't care enough to make any response to it. I would ignore it and go about my business. If they want to pursue it, THEN I do want to be a belligerent asshole.
Like my cop uncle says - "I'd rather they think I'm an asshole, because then I don't have to be an asshole."

Yeah, I like this. Just ignore the correction and carry on.
"You seem like a man who -- "
"Woman. I'm a woman now."
" -- likes the finer things in life, so I recommend etc etc."Then if they pursue it, say something like, "I don't want to". The end.
Or, "Okay, Comrade." LOL.
