D3 has a history of kidney stones. She's had 5 so far, until today, when #6 hit with a vengeance.
I told her to go to the ER, because urgent care would be worthless.
She did, and ended up in the waiting room.
And then this happened.
"Take her first."
My goodness...
Outcome:
They never, ever, stop being "your kids."

...YIKES. I'm glad the worst seems to be over. Kidney stones are amazingly painful.
-
Holy crap, that sounds awful. Hopefully the worse is over at this point.

Isn't there a 24-hr urine test that can give some indications?

Y'all, I'm getting old and the mind ain't what it was. This is stuff that falls in place hours later, that I used to know of the top of my head... Litholink...

Kidney stones often have no definite, single cause, although several factors may increase your risk.
[a long list of risk factors that can be summarized as "being alive" follows]
Damn, that sounds like one of these conditions were it's very hard to ever pin down a cause.

I read somewhere that drinking citrus juice daily, with Orange Juice being being the most effective, helps prevent stones?
Acidificaion of the urine, like with cranberry juice, works.
There are reasons why D3 can't do that, however.

Wow! Glad it turned out okay, but defnitely something she (or you) does not want to go through again!!!
