When Mike Tyson says "Leave me alone..."

No, Chris Rock Insulted his wife. That’s not a joke and it’s a problem with our society that we think it is.
I suppose an insult is in the eye of the beholder, but a comparison can be clever and funny while being flattering. I was listening to a conversation with Ricky Gervais recently and I agree with his take that the comparison was not intended to be insulting. Demi Moore was considered beautiful and fierce with that hair in that movie.

Clearly, Will Smith has some issues.
That was a pretty mild joke. I'm pretty sure there was more going on in Will Smith's head than "I must defend my wife against this vile calumny!"

I think it was mostly that he had to defend himself from his wife.

Yeah, we all saw what happened. He laughed, got the evil eye from psycho-queen, and then suddenly decided to be outraged.

Wait, so Tyson beating a guy bloody and raw because he was annoying him is okay, but Smith simply slapping Chris Rock for insulting his wife is too far? I think there’s an equivalency miscalculation…
Nope. I thought that was OK too. I understand why he did it.

Chris Rock made a joke about somebody who was being paid a substantial amount of money to provide some entertainment by appearing on a TV show for a couple of hours.
Mike Tyson hit somebody who wouldn't leave him alone on a flight. I don't actually think it's OK to hit the guy, but what kind of moron antagonizes a professional boxer? What Chris Rock did as part of his routine should have been fully expected, based on his act, and his previous performances at the Oscars. If you don't like being teased, don't show up.

LD, his wife is a psychopath.

It’s just bad form to keep bothering someone who wants to be left alone, regardless of whether that person is professional fighter.
No has to mean no, even when Mike Tyson says it.
Not sure if Mike Tyson raised any complain to the cabin crew, perhaps the issue could have been peacefully resolved by switching seat.
Did that happen in couch or in first class? Not to excuse any of the behaviors, just thinking that it’s harder to maintain personal space and as a result emotion tends to tense up more easily in coach than in first class. Not sure if anyone has methodically tested this correlations, but maybe the rise of in-cabin violence may be positively correlated to airlines packing passenger seats more densely in cabins.

Apparently, the guy threw a water bottle at him. There are parts of the country where he could have shot him in self-defence, although not on a plane, obviously. That would be dangerous.
-
@Mik "What kind of idiot do you have to be to harass a professional fighter who is known for biting a guy's ear off?"
Not to mention beating up his wife/girlfriend.
So off he goes to prison. I'm like well, there goes his career. He'll never fight again after that! Imagine my surprise when he gets a bout like five minutes after he's released.

The man who got punched by Mike Tyson on a JetBlue plane has a long criminal record ... TMZ has learned.
His name -- Melvin Townsend, III, and this isn't his first encounter with cops, by any means. He's been convicted of fraud, grand theft, burglary, possession of controlled substances and trafficking in stolen property.
As for specifics, the 36-year-old broke onto a property in 2018 and stole a trailer that he hitched to his pickup. The drug possession offense was for oxycodone. Official docs don't mention other specifics. He served time twice -- one for 20 months and another time for 15 months.
TMZ broke the story ... Townsend looks like he was harassing Tyson after they boarded the flight Wednesday from San Francisco to Miami. Before the plane took off, Townsend, who was sitting behind Tyson, was hounding him. Mike's team claims Townsend threw a water bottle at him.
The boxing champ then snapped and unloaded on him with repeated punches, leaving him bloodied. Both men got off the plane and were met by cops. Townsend said he didn't want to press charges and they both were free to go.

Bigger worry is a civil suit I would imagine.
I'd think Tyson could bankrupt the idiot if he came after him with a civil suit, and even countersue him.

I suspect Mike Tyson may feel a little jaundiced with the courts, so he might not want to risk it.
