    Why do you say that?

    Just curious.

Do you think he'd primary Joe?

But if Joe steps aside, does anyone think Kamala has a chance?

@George-K no, I don’t think Kamala has a chance. It would be interesting to see her (as VP) lose in the primaries. I’d imagine that hasn’t happened in a long time.

I'm starting to think he would. He was very vocal this last week in telling Biden's Energy Team to "Do your damn job". He's been extremely vocal. Even more so than you would expect him to be in his circumstances. It feels like he has been positioning himself to really go after the middle. Let's say Trump did come out and win the nomination on the Republican side, I think Manchin will run. Not only will he pick up the Never-Trumpers, I think he would also get the "Reluctant-Trumpers" of which there were quite a few in the last election.

Well, she didn't lose in the primaries in 2020!

I think he would beat Mr. Trump.
But I'm not sure he could beat Ms. Clinton in the primaries.

If I'm not mistaken, it is the woman's turn.

I'd probably vote for him over any Democrat I can think of. And a lot of Republicans. I'd definitely vote for him over Trump.

The question is this: Let's assume he runs, and wins. How closely do you think he'll align himself with the Democrats' caucus? There's a lot of stuff in their platforms that I find difficult to stomach. If he's as independent as he seems, then, perhaps that's not a problem. But I can see a lot of Democrats pushing him. That wouldn't happen with a GOP president, afaict.

Let me toss an insane idea out there. Say Manchin and Trump win the primaries, how about Manchin picking up DeSantis as a running mate?

                      Delusional even.

I think Trump can be successfully primaried by adopting his policies while pointing out his manifest personal flaws as a POTUS.

I was going to suggest DeWine or Hogan, but I think that would ultimately be a net negative for attracting some Republican votes. Romney would be worse…
