I thought we reached peak silliness about a decade ago.

      How wrong I was.

Reid is an idiot. Elon Musk is the complete opposite of a "freeloader", lol.

She’s just lying and demonizing a fine citizen, It’s time for her to go away.

And she must know she’s lying. She claimed this earlier and he replied that he would be paying more federal taxes in 2021 than any other American citizen in our entire history. When a guy with 54MM followers tweets back at her, her entire staff would know about it in minutes.

In the video in the tweet two posts before this one, Warren specifically mentioned the tax year 2018 as the year Musk (and Bezo) paid zero income tax. That doesn’t change even if, for tax year 2021, Musk pays a large amount in income tax, no?

I suspect rich men act as rich men have always acted, and they pay some people very good money to ensure they legally pay the minimum taxes possible.

                      No.

He takes only the required salary from Tesla that California requires - minimum wage. He pays negligible tax, if any, on that.

                      Now, dividends, etc....

                      https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/09/business/elon-musk-wealth-tesla-stock/index.html

For the uninitiated: Musk, like many ultra-wealthy heads of companies, doesn't receive a paycheck like regular people. When you see headlines about his net worth topping $300 billion, it's fun to imagine him diving into a vault of gold coins, a la Scrooge McDuck. But that eye-popping number refers mostly to Musk's equity stake in Tesla, his trillion-dollar electric vehicle company.

Taxes, not Twitter, are the real reason Elon Musk might sell some Tesla shares
In fact, Musk rarely misses a chance to remind us that he does not take a cash salary or bonus. "I only have stock, thus the only way for me to pay taxes personally is to sell stock," he tweeted over the weekend.

Of course, everyone one's gotta eat. So how's a gazillionaire supposed to get a bagel and cup of coffee these days? Or ... a yacht?

Credit, mostly. Musk and other uber-wealthy folks borrow substantially from banks, using their stock or other assets as collateral.

But Lyin' Liz doesn't mention that.

When one says “two days ago it was not raining”, one does not then also be lying if one does not mention that it rains two days later, no?

It might be interesting to see how much Elon Musk's enterprises generate in federal, state and local income taxes from employees, property taxes and corporate taxes.

While that's extremely relevant in the grand scheme of reality, in this thread it doesn't matter. He didn't pay income tax because he had fvcking INCOME. Even @asstremus should understand that.

I seriously doubt that anyone's parents wished that their kids grew up poor. You do the best you can, and if you are fortunate to be rich, you do what you can legally to keep that money. As @Jolly said, I am sure guys like him spend USD$millions on accountants to save him USD $tens of millions.
