Torn ACL

You are clearly very loved. This is a good thing.
Well I think everybody would be, when they are in need. People can sense when you are in need, and then they really want to help.
Which is not to minimize the individuals who do help, and who try harder than others to help.
And you are loved.
You have the blessing of friends, which is a great thing. I hope you recover soon and have your ACL treated as soon as possible. Hugs to you, Horace.
Thank you, Brenda. Hugs to you too.

Finally got in to the ortho today. While there is a partial tear to the ACL, for all he knows it’s long standing. The primary injury turns out to be the same as what happened to my right knee, a quad tendon rupture. Not completely ruptured this time but significantly so and I’ll need surgery. 5 weeks now since the injury, which is worrisome. They like to get these fixed within 3 weeks. But the doc says it’s still fixable. Surgery will be ASAP. Wish I could have gotten in here sooner. The surgery would have been over and done with by now.

Human knees are just a mess. Hope for all the best, Horace. On the bright-side most people I know with ACL issues seem to make full recoveries.
Turns out mine's not really an ACL primarily, it's another ruptured quad tendon. Not totally ruptured, which I hope might have helped to keep the muscle in place over these 5 weeks. Not sure how this stuff works, maybe parts of the quad muscle can still retreat independently even if the tear to the tendon is only partial. There are four pieces to the quad, as they say.

Just saw this.
Horace, I'm so sorry to hear about your ruptured quad tendon. Hope all goes well with the surgery and recovery.
Thanks Friday. If it goes like my other knee did, I’ll come out of it with a better knee than I had before the injury. These ruptures were a long time coming and were preceded by years of pain and an inability to apply pressure with the muscle while the knee was bent to any significant angle.

I've had pulled quad muscles. Those hurt. I cannot imagine the pain you're going through.
Praying for a successful surgery and a quick, full recovery.
Thanks Jolly. Actually there's no pain anymore unless I try to bend the joint too far, or God forbid attempt to actually use the joint for any purpose. The pain will come after surgery if last time is any indication. Luckily they prescribed me two different narcotic pain meds which I'll pick up tonight. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. The expression on my ortho's face when I told him it's been five weeks since the injury said a lot, as does this quick scheduling.
