As long as the picture is decent, I am not one to marvel at how great it may be. I'm more interested in the content.

I get that, but the content I am drawn towards really highlights graphics…

What Oled does is increase the contrast in your tv, by a lot, and gives you true blacks.

If you have a newer iPhone with an Oled - turn it off and turn it on in a dark room.

You’ll notice that the white Apple sign is crisp but the rest of the screen is COMPLETELY black.

In LED, the rest of the screen would be grey because the whole screen is backlit.

This is the best thing Oled gets you. Individual pixel level contrast.

It’s not really a matter of 4K or HD.

Does that matter? That’s personal preference. I bought a 65 inch last year and didn’t get Oled. The Oled was 3x+ the price.

Thanks, @xenon ! That helps! You are one of my most relatable and trusted posters on this forum, no matter what @Aqua-Letifer says to the contrary.

It does make colors pop more than LED, but where it’s truly useful is in dark movies with many shades and grey. Or scenes with mixed light and dark areas.

Think the episode with the night battle with white walkers in the last season of GOT.

“Is an OLED TV worth it?“

No. No “big TV” is worth it.
TV rots your brain, watch less of it.
If you want to use the big screen for work (e.g., big spreadsheets, many lines of code on one screen), that’s fine, be OLED’s truer black is beneficial to reduce eye strain. But not for TV.
For TV, just watch it on your phone or tablet.

I just bought a 65" last summer, basically I just spent a little more than I intended to spend. After that the features can take care of themselves.

I did too. The picture is incredible. But on non 4k programmimg it takes it about 5 seconds to sharpen things up.

I just bought one. You gotta figure you’ll keep it for years and the content providers will catch up.

Same reason I always max out computer hardware specs with a new purchase. If I don’t, I’ll wish I had a few years later.

A paradigm change? I thought you were a "no TV" guy?

LD I'll be getting a TV for our basement later this year and will go for the OLED. Like @jon-nyc said, if you use something enough, IMO it's worth it to max it out. For 90% of the content out there, a QLED or whatever is more than terrific. But I plan for this to be my main sports/movie TV for at least the next decade so I'm going to go with the latest tech.
