Shooting of Amir Locke
-
In short, the police were executing a "no knock" warrant looking for a resident of the apartment. Amir (who was not part of the warrant) was a guest sleeping on the couch around 7am when the cops entered. Amir woke up holding his (legal/permitted) gun so he was shot and killed.
One could question why someone sleeps with a gun while staying in the apartment of a criminal/suspect. Still, it is a tragedy he was killed, obviously. I doubt the cops even had time to process his skin color even though I'm sure that'll be the narrative in the corporate press.

Don't like No Knock warrants.

Agreed. In conjunction with common-law self defense doctrine it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

Also, don't like the proliferation of SWAT. I think it's used far too often.
