          I don’t get it. The numbers weren’t bad, so why all the fuss? Unless they didn’t know the numbers weren’t bad? That’s actually kind of troubling…

                    The formula and the exact numbers aren’t what I’m talking about. Just a general feel for how employment numbers looked. The department should have certainly been in regular contact with various trade and labor groups and should have a general feel for whether these groups are seeing large drops in new hires and layoffs… The fact that they were expecting something different than what they saw tells me that either there has not been consistent communication or the communication gave them false impressions. Either of which isn’t good…
